Remember Drew Carey? That funny big guy from “The Drew Carey Show”? He didn’t look to healthy back in those days.
USAToday interviewed him a few weeks ago about the weight loss, and get this, his first-ever half-marathon. While we aren’t all in the same boat as him – he’s lucky enough to be able to afford a trainer, a nutritionist and a meal service – his story is a good one to read for a little inspiration.
He has a very sensible approach to food now. His guilty pleasures are all sugar-free, and that’s the way he prefers it (he splurged on ice cream after a 10K race and regretted it).
His training schedule sounds pretty reasonable, too. He said he goes to a place in Santa Monica called Phase IV that helps train people for triathlons, biking and running races. I’m curious what his training was in the very beginning. He said it was slow to start, which is a good thing.
It’s apparently going so well, he’s planning on doing a full marathon in October. On top of that, he’s off his diabetes medication. Good for him!
