My love of a good pair of running socks comes second only to a good pair of running shoes. If you run long enough, you’ll know why.
My first venture into running started off rocky. My first four-mile run, I set off in old worn down tennis shoes and plain old white gym socks … I was ill prepared. Hello, Blister City.
Shortly after that, I hobbled to the running store to restock. I invested in a good pair of running shoes, and when I mentioned blisters, the helpful running nut working at Peak Performance showed me the double layered socks (Wright Socks, to be exact). It was the beginning of a long love affair.
It might come off as abnormal how much I think a good pair socks is important to running. They are, though. You can’t just wear any old running sock and expect your feet to come away unscathed.
Here’s a Runners World column with insight on the rights socks for different occasions.
